Flowers is an original contemporary artwork by TOMOYA, created as a diptych of two square canvases that connect to form one continuous composition.
The work presents an abstract field of flowers, dominated by soft whites, creams, and vivid shades of yellow. Thick layers of paint and expressive brushwork create a highly textured surface, transforming the flowers into an exploration of color, material, and movement.
Each square canvas works as an individual composition while also connecting visually with the other. The forms, colors, and gestures continue across the central divide, creating a larger field of flowers when the two canvases are displayed together.
Rather than depicting flowers realistically, TOMOYA uses thick impasto, layered paint, and expressive marks to capture the energy and presence of flowers.
Vivid yellow emerges through layers of white and cream, while subtle greens, grays, and darker tones create depth and contrast within the composition.
The central line between the two canvases is intentionally integrated into the composition. Instead of separating the painting, it becomes part of the visual rhythm, allowing the flowers and gestures to flow from one canvas into the other.
This approach transforms a traditional floral subject into a contemporary abstract flower painting, focusing on the physical qualities of paint and the emotional impression of nature rather than botanical accuracy.
The wide horizontal format gives the work a strong presence when displayed, making it particularly suited to larger interior spaces.
